Our kinesiology tapes are often used for sports injuries or in physiotherapy. They are used to support and stabilize muscles, fascia, ligaments or Joints.
With this application technique, we will show you how you can relieve and counteract pain in the thumb saddle joint with the help of kinesiology tapes. For the tape application you need a tape strip in the shape of a Y, which is cut about 10 cm. You also need a tape strip in the shape of an I, which should be about 15 cm long. For this you can either use our Kintex Classic Tape and cut the strips yourself or you can use our Kintex PreCut Tape and tear the tape strips accordingly. When cutting the tape, make sure that you round off the corners, this will increase the adhesion of the tape.
Preparation and application of Kintex Kinesiology Tape
Prepare the tapes accordingly for the application technique in the triceps area. To ensure better adhesion, you should remove all oils, creams and hair from the affected area in advance and also clean it with alcohol. Before applying the tape, bring your hand into a pre-stretched position by turning the palm of your hand slightly downwards. Then remove the backing paper of the Y-shaped tape strip in the middle and stick the base without pulling on the thumb saddle joint and let the rein run out along the forearm. Remove the backing paper of the first rein, wrap the thumb using the tape and cross the base of the thumb joint.
Then take the second rein of the tape, starting from the inside out and also crossing the base joint of the thumb. Now take the shorter I-shaped tape and tape it over the thumb saddle joint with maximum tension.
Finally, apply a good coat of adhesive to the entire tape from the inside to the outside; this activates the adhesive and increases its adhesion.
