Cross tapes are often applied to pain points or so-called trigger points in acupuncture or physiotherapy. The grid patches are intended to release existing blockages and pain.
For this tape application you need a tape strip in the shape of a Y and another strip in the shape of an I, which will later serve as a third rein and should therefore be about 2.5 cm wide. You can either use our Kintex Classic Tape and cut the strips yourself or you can use our Kintex PreCut Tape and tear off the tape strips accordingly. Measure the length of the strips on your patient for a more accurate taping. When cutting, make sure to round the corners. This will increase the adhesion of the tape.
Preparation and application of Kintex Kinesiology Tape
To ensure better adhesion, you should first remove all oils, creams and hair from the affected area and clean it additionally with alcohol. Often the discomfort appears in the upper part of the neck, to relieve this you can additionally apply a Kintex Cross Tape size B over the pain point. Prepare the tapes accordingly for the application technique for neck pain.
Tape the Kintex Cross Tape over the localized pain point in advance. Loosen the backing paper of the Y-strip by tearing them slightly at the base. Tape the base of the tape to the top of the shoulder blade. Tilt your head to the opposite side and have your partner apply the top rein along the back of your neck to your hairline. Straighten your head again, loosen the backing paper of the second rein and tape it along the lower angle of the shoulder blade to the spine, also without pulling.
Now take the tape in the shape of an I and loosen the backing paper at the base of the tape. Then tape the base of the I-shaped tape to the base of the Y-shaped strip and bring the third rein up to the spine without pulling. Finally, paint the entire tape from the inside out, this will activate the adhesive and increase the adhesion of the tape.
