With this application technique we show you how you can counteract hallux valgus with the help of kinesiology tapes. For this tape application you need one tape strip in the shape of a Y and one in the shape of an I. For this you can either use our Kintex Classic Tape and cut the strips yourself or you can use our Kintex PreCut Tape and tear the tape strips accordingly. When cutting the tape, make sure that you round off the corners, this will increase the adhesion of the tape.

Preparation and application of Kintex Kinesiology Tape

To ensure better adhesion, you should first remove all oils, creams and hair from the affected area and also clean it with alcohol. Divide the Precut strip along the perforation and stick the base onto the one at the base of the toe. Loosen the backing paper of the first rein and place it around the toe, over the metatarsophalangeal joint. Glue the second rein around the toe as well (without the pull) and glue the end back onto the base of the toe joint. Lastly, apply the I strip over the metatarsophalangeal joint of the toe with maximum traction.

Finally, rub the tape again, this reinforces the adhesive strength of the tape application.
